Music Stands

Look around at any workshop and you'll see more and more of these music stands in use. Why? Because they are simply the best! They are fully adjustable, can be used with virtually any hammered dulcimer stand and are quick and easy to place. The clamps work perfectly if your dulcimer has tristander legs, or if you have a large dulcimer that extends several inches beyond your stand. The paddle is your best choice for most other dulcimer stands. The Plexiglass is available in clear, smoky, or playful neon colors! For those of you who play in ensembles or with an orchestra and work from a piece of music several pages long, our "super-sized" Classic 24" plex will help you avoid frequent page turning.

17" standard - $45.00, Classic 24" - $50.00.

Tuners, Tuner-Metronomes, Tuner Clips - We carry a variety of  reasonably-priced tuners and tuner-metronome combinations, patch cords, and tuning wrenches.  Our two most popular tuners are the CA-30 Korg, which has seemed to be the standard for years, and the new ZOID which clips on to the tuning pins or back of the dulcimer.  The ZOID has a screen which turns green when the note is in tune, and red if you are flat or sharp, plus the LCD needle which makes it easy to read in any light.  We’d be happy to help you select the accessories that fit your needs and budget.  $15-$34

MIGHTY BRIGHT LIGHTS - For those times when you need to see your music in a low-light environment, these Mighty Bright lights are ideal!  The flexible arms allow you to point the beams where you want them, then easily bend them for compact storage.  The bright LED light source means no bulbs to replace  - ever!  These little lights are perfect with the String Fever Music Stand, but will work with any music stand.  The Duet 2 now has four LEDs which can be used independently of one another for varying brightness levels.   The Triple LED light has the added feature of a telescoping arm and swiveling light head for ideal coverage.   Both the Duet and the Telescoping lights can also be used freestanding if preferred, and use three AAA batteries.  .  The single light comes with the necessary AAA batteries.  Single $15.00, Triple LED $20.00, and Duet 2  $30.00.

CORKY BANJO MUTE - Nope, doesn’t have anything to do with a dulcimer, but if you know a banjo player, he or she may be interested in this little item. We manufacture these for performance, practice or studio work. It cuts out the overtones and quiets the banjo down. Made from rosewood and cork to produce a warmer tone, it is designed to remain on the instrument and adjusts easily for use or non-use. Works for open back and resonator banjos. $24.00

HAMMER TIME WATCHES – Not for your wrist, but for your dulcimer. Keep your program within its time limit without having to look at your wrist every few minutes. This fun little timepiece fits right over a tuning pin. Each one is different. $15.00

Hammers

I h
ad to woodburn my initials into my Ed Hale hammers because so many other dulcimer players also use his hammers that I was concerned at some point I would pick up the wrong pair and we would come to blows about whose were whose! They are light, well balanced, and easy to flip over when you want to use the other side. Please specify small or large head. $27.00.

Bob Bedard makes the most beautiful hammers out of all kinds of woods, in light to heavier weights. The Harlequin model is not only a work of art, but one half can be made of ebony, making them the perfect hammer for playing outdoors on a breezy day. Our supply of Bedard hammers is constantly changing, so please call or email for availability. Bob now makes a small head option, as shown in the photo.
$20.00 - $45.00.

If you want an attractive, beautifully balanced hammer, Jill Weimer's hammers are ones you'll want to consider. You can choose from a St. Brigit Cross, Celtic Knot, Double Heart, or the new Hummingbird design all of which are 8" long, or the longer Treble Clefs, which are 9½ inches long.  Or just for fun, play with her "hammer-shaped" hammers. They certainly help people remember the difference between a mountain dulcimer and a hammered dulcimer!
$20.00 - $30.00.

While teaching at a workshop recently, one of my students gave me some hammers he had made.  I really liked them, but so did a customer who was looking for a pair of good one-sided hammers. I reluctantly sold mine, then asked for more. I now have another pair of my own, and have stocked up so that I can offer these nicely made user-friendly, single-sided Lynn Cox hammers to you.  $25.00     lchammers

The String Fever flexible-shaft hammers are ideal for those of you who play lightening fast! The springy-action allows them to bounce back the way you need for your playing style. We will make them to the length you request. $10.00.

Skunk Tail

The nifty new duster that gets it all!  We've finally come up with the only duster that will clean around the tuning and hitch pins, along the bridges, and even underneath the bridges with ease!  No more homemade sock-on-a-yardstick creations, or paintbrush bristles caught in the strings.  You will LOVE this handy accessory for only $15.00.

Mountain Dulcimer Hammers

Aren't we always looking for something unique? Here you go - hammers for Mountain Dulcimer! Now, we don't play mountain dulcimer, so we can't give first-hand testimony (so to speak), but we've had players tell us they are great fun. In the words of someone at the ODPC Funfest last July, "These are a hoot!" The shorter one is for striking individual notes, while the longer one is for chording. Made by Jill Weimer. $15.00 each
